Corporate social responsibility
We recognise that our responsibilities reach much further than our immediate employees, investors and customers. We are committed to making a positive social contribution on a local, national and international level. Through the Healthcare at Home Charities Committee, we deliver meaningful support to a range of worthy charities and causes.
The Charities Committee is managed by staff from across the business and oversees the distribution of any financial contributions, which are derived directly from the business profits, as well as providing support for employee-led events.
Whether it’s gifting computers to hospitals in Africa or providing funding to support a local charity, we like the chance to support well-deserving initiatives that make a life-changing difference.
We consider requests on a case-by-case basis rather than adopt a ‘sponsored’ approach for particular causes. This gives us flexibility in our decision-making and helps us respond to a larger number of applications. We encourage our staff to get involved in supporting good causes and we try to give priority to supporting causes in which our staff are involved.
Nottingham University Hospitals Charity – Cystic Fibrosis Fundraising
Healthcare at Home provided financial support to help Nottingham University Hospitals Charity raise funds to help cystic fibrosis patients across the East Midlands.
Cystic fibrosis is a life-limiting illness that affects the lungs and digestive system. The funds will support the purchase of video conferencing facilities at Nottingham City Hospital, where cystic fibrosis inpatients and outpatients from across the East Midlands are treated.
This means patients can communicate with each other from their separate hospital rooms and even with their family and friends at home. It will make an enormous difference to cystic fibrosis patients by helping them feel less isolated during lengthy hospital stays, when they would typically be unable to mix with each other due to the risk of cross-infection.
Gauchers Association – Charity Cycle Ride
Gaucher disease is the most common of the lysosomal storage diseases and is caused by a hereditary enzyme deficiency. Some forms of Gaucher disease may be treated with enzyme replacement therapy. Healthcare at Home Ltd recently provided funding to support the Gauchers Association in staging a charity cycle ride from London to Cambridge. Additionally, a number of our staff gave up their time to take part in this event, either by cycling and/or fundraising.
Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust
Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT) is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to adult and childhood brain tumour research. The Trust aims to raise awareness, support and funds for brain tumour research to help fight the disease and give hope to brain tumour patients in the future. Healthcare at Home recently sponsored a charity climbing event for them.
