Logistics

  • More than 100 drivers, plus support team
  • Drivers make between 30-40 deliveries a day, covering approximately 250 miles
  • The department supports nurses, delivering medication on time and in the right condition

Covering all of the UK, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, Healthcare at Home’s logistics department provides invaluable support to our nurses in the field, delivering a wide range of drugs to patients. Many of these patients are elderly, vulnerable and suffering from serious illnesses, so the company’s drivers provide a real lifeline. Delivery is an integral part of the care we provide and our dedicated drivers are more than just couriers – they have excellent interpersonal skills and take pride in their professionalism. Supporting the drivers is a team that includes schedulers who plan drivers’ routes and administrators who are there to help them with any problems. There are also trainers who ensure the fleet’s driving skills are up to date.

I get on well with my customers and I like the fact that the company trusts you to do your job independently. There’s a lot more to it than a typical courier job – there are lots of checks in place to make sure everything is in order. As well as being a good driver and being able to get on well with the patients, you really need to have a good knowledge of the area you cover.
