Although they may not be on the front line working directly with patients, the Purchasing team nevertheless plays a vital role in ensuring the correct drugs are always available when they are needed. For many patients, getting their medication on time and in the right amounts is a simple matter of life or death, so running a smooth operation that anticipates and meets demand is critical. It’s not just medication though. Almost everything the company buys, be it staples, mobile phones or fixtures and fittings is handled by Purchasing.
On a strategic level our job is to support the business by delivering the best value and to source items more efficiently. This in turn allows us to be the most competitive so that we can win business and provide the best possible care for people. The people we look for are those who can challenge themselves – and me – with the aim of keeping both our internal and external customers happy.
