Our service to your patients
The treatments Healthcare at Home can deliver range from intensive chemotherapy regimens to training patients or carers to administer their own subcutaneous injections. From an oncology perspective, Healthcare at Home will accept all chemotherapy, small molecule treatments and monoclonal antibody regimens, provided that your patient is fit to receive the treatment at home and the treatment is safe to administer in the home setting. Patients on monoclonal antibody therapy, such as Herceptin, will have their loading dose and second cycle in a hospital environment.
All cytotoxic waste is removed from your patient's home and disposed of via a licensed toxic waste company, in accordance with COSSH standards. Our nursing teams can also, if required, administer blood transfusions and supportive therapy, such as G-CSF, IV fluids and antiemetics.
A vast range of treatments can be provided at a time and place more convenient to your patient than travelling to hospital, regardless of where your patient lives.
- Pre-chemo bloods and toxicity assessment
- Chemotherapy administration
- Day two visit for administration of G-CSF
- Prescription management and screening
- Nadir blood count and psychological assessment
- IV antibiotics
Contraindications for home therapy may include a history of drug sensitivity, unstable diabetes and cardiac conditions, although the final clinical decision will rest with you. You can find information for private patients here.
