Healthcare at Home clinic in Bristol is now working with VeinCentre to offer innovative treatment for varicose veins.
VeinCentre is a specialist non-surgical vein clinic, established by Dr David West in 2003. It was the first private company established to provide Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) and has been at the forefront of developments in the field of minimally invasive varicose vein treatment. A comprehensive range of treatments are available at Healthcare at Home clinic in Bristol, and all aspects of the service are managed with absolute discretion and privacy.
VeinCentre is run by two highly experienced and respected local specialists, Mr Marcus Brookes, Consultant Vascular Surgeon, and Dr Lyn Jones, Consultant Vascular Interventional Radiologist.
VeinCentre was established to provide a vein service that truly met the needs and expectations of patients. Dr West wanted to radically improve not only the medical techniques themselves, but also the culture and process of varicose vein treatment in the UK. He found that countless NHS patients across the country were referred to outpatient clinics, examined by a non-specialist, given an appointment for a scan, and returned to outpatients to be told, "Your veins are not bad enough, we can't treat you on the NHS." In the private sector, things were not much better, with long winded assessment processes necessitating multiple visits before a treatment plan was agreed and costed. No choice of treatment was usually offered and punitive charges were (and often still are) levied for traditional operations which had changed little in decades. Scientific studies on patients' satisfaction with management of their varicose veins showed poor results.
